THE CAQA EXPERIENCE
Explore a personal start page, familiar browsing tools and our plans for CAQA. Each feature below explains whether you can use it online, try it as a staff tester or follow its progress.
01 / A PERSONAL START
Give your next tab a little more purpose. A local clock and day greeting sit against a full landscape, with quick links to the sites you use most.

02 / EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS
CAQA builds on Chromium’s familiar browsing tools. Staff can try the current Windows preview; a public desktop download is not available yet. Our help guide explains how to get started.
Move between pages, save useful resources, organise bookmarks and return to recent browsing through familiar browser menus.
Use the browser address bar with your configured search provider. The standalone web start page submits searches to DuckDuckGo.
Chromium’s reading components include Mozilla Readability for extracting article content. Browser zoom and keyboard navigation remain useful everyday controls.
Access downloads, print pages, inspect site information and manage permissions using the browser’s existing controls.
Browse Google, Mozilla and Microsoft catalogues from one guide. Review a manifest’s declared permissions locally before choosing a tool.
Choose a start-page mood, clock format and weather units. Native browser settings and web start-page preferences are managed separately.
03 / PURPOSEFUL DEVELOPMENT
We are working on clearer controls for separate client sessions, extension access and site privacy. Do not rely on these new protections in the current staff preview; they still need testing.
Explore the privacy design ↗The aim is to keep different clients’ browsing sessions separate. A browser profile does not protect against malicious software on your computer.
New controls are being tested to limit where extensions can read or change pages and to ask before allowing access to a protected workspace.
We are testing limits on built-in AI access. A web page should never be able to grant permission for browser actions or gain access to unrelated tabs.
CHOOSE YOUR EXPERIENCE
The web start page is open to everyone. The Windows browser is being tested by staff before a public release.
Open the clock, local weather, wallpaper and quick links in your current browser. You can also explore the extension catalogues and review a manifest’s requested permissions.
No installation or account is needed. This website does not add CAQA’s desktop features to your existing browser.
Open your start pageDesignated staff can try the current desktop preview using the complete package supplied by their CAQA testing coordinator.
It is an unsigned test release. Use disposable test information; a public download is not available yet.
Read the staff testing guideThese are plans and work in progress, not features you should depend on today.
We are testing stronger workspace boundaries and a way to import compatible Firefox extension packages. Compatibility varies by extension.
Do not rely on these changes in the current staff preview. Final browser testing is unfinished; not every Firefox or Edge extension will work.
Understand extension compatibilityThe update system is being prepared. Staff should install the next complete approved package when their testing coordinator supplies it.
Public automatic updates are not active. Release signing, installation and update checks still need to be completed.
Check desktop release statusRead the dated tests, known limitations and remaining requirements for a public release.
Availability information updated 13 September 2026. A design refresh does not change the desktop browser’s release status.
